The History of the Greendale Police Department Motorcycle Unit
The Village of Greendale Police Department is located in Milwaukee County Wisconsin. The department started looking at police motorcycles in 2001 and took advantage of a one week trial of a FXDP Dyna Defender from the House of Harley Davidson. In 2003 we received our first bike a leased white Road King for $1.00 per year. We received a new bike every year until 2007 when the dealer stopped the $1.00 lease deal.
In 2005 the department changed to a black FLHTPI and in 2007 we purchased our own bike a 2007 FLHTP which we still have in service.
Currently there are three riders, two Patrol Officers and a Patrol Sergeant.. We average 4000 miles per year and ride April to November. The bike is equipped with Tomar LED lights on the tour pak, in the spots lamps and 911ep stars on the sides. In 2009 we purchased a PVP communications push to talk system with plans to purchase a moving radar in 2010.
