The History of the United States Military and Military Police Motorcycle Unit

During the first World War, Harley-Davidson in a move to get the government contract from Indian Motorcycle company, Harley-Davidson created a program to train the servicemen in the field and maintaince personnel to fix and repair the their motorcycles in the field and to salvage parts off of damaged and broken motorcycles.  This program was taking from their Police Fleet Sales and Service in 1908.  During World War II Harley-Davidson only made motorcycles for the Military, not one was made for civilian sale.  During World War II John Harley help trained the military riders.
