The History of the Georgia State Patrol Motorcycle Unit

The mission of the Georgia State Patrol Motorcycle Unit is to provide equitable service and protection to the motoring public on Georgia highways and to promote a safe and secure environment.  Unit members approach speeding, seat belt violators, improper lane change, following too close and driving under the influence violators aggressively and judicially on the interstates of metro Atlanta. The goals of the Motorcycle Unit are to patrol the interstate systems in hopes to increase interstate speed compliance, increase seat belt compliance, target accident sites and reduce accidents by 20% in a projected period; target aggressive drivers following too closely and changing lanes improperly; and target DUI drivers.
