The History of the Menomonee Falls Police Department Motorcycle Unit
The Menomonee Falls, WI Police Department began a Motor Unit in 2006 through donations from the Community. Several local businesses and Community Organizations donated the funds to obtain Two 2006 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motorcycles, Uniforms and Equipment. The Motors were assigned to the Traffic Unit of MFPD and began with two Officers, Officer Jim Bowen and Officer Tim Schwabenlander. In 2007, Officer Scott Bellows was also assigned to the Motor Unit and in 2008 the program was expanded to three Motors. Since Officer Schwabenlanders retirement, the Motor Unit has remained a part of the Traffic Unit and currently in 2013, MFPD has two 2013 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motorcycles fully equipped with Panasonic Toughbook Laptop computers. Officers Bowen and Bellows remain as the departments Motor Officers performing traffic enforcement functions. Menomonee Falls, WI is in the Northwest Metro Milwaukee area and has a population of approximately 33,000 and covers 33 square miles. Menomonee Falls Police Department has approximately 60 Sworn Officers.
