Atlanta police motorcycle officer Roy Watson Dooley was critically injured December 4, 1979. Officer Dooley was en route to answer a call for help from a MARTA police officer when he collided with a vehicle that had pulled into his path causing him to also strike a parked vehicle. Officer Dooley died December 6, 1979 from massive head and internal injuries. He served most of his career on the motorcycle squad with his brother, Benjamin Charles Dooley, and worked a brief stint with the bureau’s flying squad.
