Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Reserve Motor Unit
he Traffic Safety Motor Unit is made up of four members of the Sheriff’s Reserve Unit. We currently utilize three Kawasaki KZ-1100 police model motorcycles. These motors were donated to the Sheriff’s Reserve unit from the Walnut Creek Police Dept. The unit was formed to provide traffic & crowd control at the many special events throughout the county. These include parades, foot races and traffic control for the Contra Costa County Fair each year. The unit would also be used for disasters, emergencies, search & rescue, traffic control, public information days and as a visible crime deterrent. The T.S.U. members keep a high priority on training along with their other assignments, they train on the motorcycles every week to keep their riding skills at peek performance. This includes both low and high speed cone and obstacle riding on a designated training lot.
