Hendersonville, TN Police Department

The History of the Hendersonville Police Department Motorcycle Unit

Submitted by Chief of Police Micky Miller

Although the Hendersonville, TN Police Department had a motor unit in the past, it was eliminated over the last three years.  There were two 2003 Electra Glide motorcycles and the Motor Officers rode sporadically.  In December, 2011, new Chief Mickey Miller (a 33 1/2 year veteran of the Metro Police Department before taking over as Hendersonville’s Chief in October 2010) re-instituted the Traffic Division and formed the Blue Eagles Motor Unit.  With the addition of six new 2012 Police bikes rented from Boswell’s Harley-Davidson, the unit has eight motorcycles now.  Chief Miller rides one of them.  The Motor Officers include:  Chief Miller, Lt. Daniels, Cpl. Germany, Cpl. Holscher, Off. Rapp, Off. Leckner, Off.  Messer (The First female Motor Officer in Sumner County’s History), and Off. Manning.

The Hendersonville Police Department has 95 sworn officers, 25 civilian personnel, and 32 Reserve officers.

Chief Miller’s father was a motor officer for the Nashville, TN Police Department.
