The History of the Sheboygan Police Department Motorcycle Unit
The Sheboygan Police Department maintains a Motorcycle Unit for the purpose of supplementing traditional patrol vehicles, a presence at special events (such as funerals, parades and motorcade escort), to operate in confined areas, and to promote public relations with this unique and popular resource.
The motorcycle is a model year 2007 Harley-Davidson FLHP Road King. The engine is a 103 cu. in. (1700 cc) air-cooled twin cam.
The police officer’s assigned are certified as a Motorcycle Officer through a program developed by Northwestern University (IL) and Harley-Davidson, and taught over a comprehensive one or two-week training period.
