Officer Lavon B. New

Turlock, CA Police Deaprtment


Motor/Traffic Officer Lavon B. New was attempting to catch up to a vehicle in 1935, on his motor (pictured), when a car pulled out in front of him.  New struck the back of a motorist's car so hard that it dislodged the rear axle of the citizen's car.  New had been an officer for four months when he was killed in the line of duty.
